When students get to college, they are exposed to new ideas and new cultures and students need a system to help them conceptualize and to write an essay. Writing a quality essay is something that can only be mastered with practice, but getting the feel of a topic that is being discussed in class can also be difficult.Students need a comfortable situation to learn and experience a new culture, and a study abroad program can provide just that. They will also need to think about how that event is depicted in the written piece.Using a study abroad essay example can help the author in order to create the best possible piece that is being presented to their class. Writing a thesis statement, and editing the essay in an effort to make it perfect will all be done before the professor sees it. It is a matter of time before the instructor receives the final copy. Most importantly, it is always encouraged to revise the essay after reviewing it with the professor. In the case of a thesis statement, students may be tempted to rewrite and then finally edit the essay. This is when the author needs to re-evaluate what they originally wrote in order to make it more refined. This can be done in writing, through writing another essay and then going back over the original. There are many different ways t hat an author can rewrite the essay and decide which way is the best for them. The student must be willing to take a step back and think about what they want the final product to be. However, they need to remember that the professor will only look at the work once, and he or she will only be looking at a small section of the work.A study abroad essay example is important for all students to use. The student should take the time to read and consider the essay that is being presented to them in class. They should be able to use this type of essay writing style to better them and their writing skills for future assignments and subjects.Students must remember that a good essay requires good grammar and a focus on style and presentation. These factors will be used to help guide the process of writing the best essay possible. A study abroad essay example can help with this process.

Socrates An Essay On Morality, Misdeeds, And A Martyr

Socrates: An Essay on Morality, Misdeeds, and a Martyr Few names in history have withstood the test of time, remaining currently studied and discussed to the point of familiarity. Socrates is one such unique name. A man of ethics and reason, Socrates would change history forever, creating a love of reason and knowledge unestablished by his predecessors. Despite the admiration and respect Socrates found in most Athenian circles, his revolutionary methods and inquisitive mind would eventually be his undoing. Socrates pursuit of the truth directly conflicted with the ideas of moral and social conformity, ultimately leading to his conviction under the very laws he deemed fair and just. I intend to argue that Socrates, though unfairly†¦show more content†¦They often found themselves at odds with Socrates because where the Sophists believed there were no one standard for truth or justice, Socrates believed moral excellence was attained through the active seeking of self-knowledge (Socrates). Also, Socrates found that often those more morally skewed and â€Å"foolish† were the elite and noble, the social class normally taught by the Sophists. As he continued to teach the youth of Athens newer more secular ways of thinking, he ostracized himself from some of the most powerful families in Athens with long Sophist ties, threatening their power. It was his threat to political power that eventually landed Socrates in court charged with the corruption of the Athenian youth and the promotion of his own gods rather than the gods of the state. Socrates defense was well executed, planned, and proved to be the stronger and more supported side of the trial. He begins by asking, Which is better, to live among bad citizens, or among good ones? as well as, Is there anyone who would rather be injured then benefitted by those who live with him?(Plato). He then goes on the offense. If he corrupted the youth of Athens, making them bad citizens, they would do harm to himself and others which isn t the case. Socrates was not a violent man despite having served in war and his followers were philosophers not criminals.

American Gothic as it Relates to the Industrial Revolution Free Essays

A Response to Davenport’s Review of American Gothic After reading an except from The Geography of the Imagination, it is clear that Wood, the creator of the world-recognized American Gothic, his included many subtle references to the way our country was changed by the Industrial Revolution in his painting. Davenport begins his enlightenment by informing us that almost everything in this painting is a symbol, whether or not it was even intended to be one. He starts off with the house pictured in the background of the painting, telling us how it was a â€Å"ready-made† house that would be dropped off in pieces and simply put together by ossibly only two men. We will write a custom essay sample on American Gothic as it Relates to the Industrial Revolution or any similar topic only for you Order Now The geometry and simplicity of the house are the characteristics that have guided him to this conclusion. He later mentions both Sears ; Roebuck as well as JC Penney, which are both commonly known as companies who took advantage of and popularized mass produced items. Another aspect of this house that Davenport introduces to his audience is the glass windowpanes. Previously a luxury item, the fact that this common farmhouse now has a glass plane is an example of how the Industrial Revolution made certain less attainable items from the previous century, such as glass, as common as the spectacles on the armer’s face. Moving on to the characters portrayed, Wood has included many more references to mass production of new ideas such as buttonholes, clothing that came â€Å"ready-to- sew’ including: fabric, patterns, and thread. The farmer’s overalls are also a depiction of a new fabric, denim, that was popularized for its economy at this time. Even their positions are reminiscent of the Brownie Box Camera and the farmer’s stance with his pitchfork which references that of Egyptian warfare. The implication of a cotton mill, dye works, and a roller press is a complicated ass of production and assembly lines that Davenport shows us is hidden behind something that appears so common to us: a curtain. A quick look into the buttons seen throughout the painting gives us a tour of the world, pulling into the railroad and ocean-crossing boats that made these simple circles important. Overall, Davenport tells his readers that he is not certain of Wood’s intent, but regardless of the nature of the piece, he has left us many decipherable clues as to how our culture evolved during the Industrial Revolution. What is the benefits of travelling We will write a custom essay on Travelling specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now It is important to mention that except experience, travelling provides a lot of significant benefits. The first of them is to develop and keep humility. Modern people usually feel stuck in the everyday routine. They work or study, sleep, eat, and communicate with each other, paying too much attention to unnecessary or insufficient things and leaving behind happiness, self- analysis, and harmony with the natural environment. Thus, travelling helps to distinguish the most important things in a life of every person, think over his or her plans and perspectives, and achieve happiness through communication with different people and visiting new places. As a result, people obtain the advantage from travelling the world in observing different lifestyles and understanding cultural and social settings of every particular community. The second benefit from travelling is the opportunity to look at the native country of a traveller from a completely different point of view. Thus, a person can make a thorough comparison of a home country, its infrastructure and social, political, and environmental conditions to those provided in the foreign location. This approach allows a person to see the advantages and disadvantages of the native location and form a new perspective on the nearest future. It usually appears that the government of the native country provides different freedom of speech, education, and social support. For example, students, who traditionally use cheap travel services, may discover that in the other country, they would experience a lot of difficulties connected with a lack of money, cheap accommodations, opportunity to combine studying and work together or take part in various student programs for free. On the contrary, they may distinguish numerous advantages of studying in their native country and appreciate them more. The third benefit is a great life experience provided by travelling. During trips, people tend to follow defined social norms, different laws, and cultural peculiarities that are traditional to the foreign places. In this way, they are forced to evaluate the quality of life in a foreign country and favour or disapprove the foreign social order. As a matter of fact, the notions and characteristics that play a decisive role in this evaluation are human rights, traditional beliefs, corruption, bribery, and attitude toward women and children. Taking into account this factor, it is possible to say that travelling is advantageous for people who want to obtain an individual experience and discover their inner perception of the world. Is the travelling motivation? Thus, travelling makes people adventurous and force to use all the opportunities provided in their lives. What is more important, this activity allows them to understand the real value of every single day on this planet and appreciate it more. While travelling, the individuals start to understand that the money they struggle to earn has no significant value. On the contrary, it is priceless to discover new things, meet new people, and obtain a new experience. Therefore, travelling provides a positive experience for people of different age, financial opportunities, and moral principles. It helps them to understand better themselves and their close people, solve conflicts, and obtain new beliefs and aims. This activity may change a person completely and help him or her to discover a new perspective in life, understand the reason of the human existence, or examine new peculiarities of the natural and social environment. It happens that a foreign cultural environment reveals the truth ab out the social norms in the native country, in this way, changing the worldview of a person, his or her main principles, and preferences in life. That is why it is why people like to travel the world and discover the countries with different culture, diving into the different reality that exists in small foreign communities, beautiful nature, friendly people, and tasty national dishes. This is the way they obtain the desired freedom, spiritual power, and wisdom.

Mars Essays - Exploration Of Mars, Manned Missions To Mars

Mars Essays - Exploration Of Mars, Manned Missions To Mars Mars In 1962, the United States President, John F. Kennedy, spoke at Rice University in Houston, Texas. Kennedy promised to put an American on the moon by the end of the 1960s. (The History) On June 16, 1969 Kennedys dream promise was kept. The United States placed two men on the surface of the moon. (Apollo 11) By the year 2001, a few months short of 32 years later, no other body has had humans as guests. Why not? The vast wealth of knowledge which could be gained by a manned exploration of Mars is probably one of the better reasons to go. By further exploration of Mars the field of Comparative Planetology could be expanded. One of the procedures which could be performed my explorers sent to Mars is drilling samples out of the Martian ice caps. This process is done on Earth in order to get a climatic history. This information would be extremely useful when looking at Mars. We would finally know why the water which once rushed over Mars and created the great cannels of Mars have become frozen. Other important information which could be found on Mars deals with the vulcanism. We could more easily study to see when and why vulcanism ceased on Mars. (Collins 84) Opponents argue that this would just be all too costly. They claim that the money could not be found for such a venture.(Easterbrook 91) Well In answer to the money problem one comes to a totally new point, the economy. This spending of money would not break the United States government, it would stimulate the United States Industrial fields. The money spent on a Mars mission would not merely be spent in space, it would be spent in the United States. All of the money spent here would also push the United States industries to make better products. The companies would be pushed to create such dependable products in fields such as aerospace and avionics. Of course we would see the same effects seen after NASAs crowing achievement, putting humans on the moon, after putting humans on Mars. These effects are the expansion of the technologies used to reach into different fields. Such as medicine, many of the advances in medicine since 1973 can be attributed to the space program. Mainly through the work done in computers, electronics, thermal control, computational fluid dynamics and etc... Robots have been the explorers of Mars. We have now seen that robots have become ineffective. Such as the case with the Mars polar lander. A software problem caused breaking systems to shut down early. (Mars Failures) By putting a human at the controls such a software problem could be overridden. The use of such robotic probes are used to learn as much as possible without actually sending humans. This should be the main focus of the probes being sent. (National Space Society 61) We have learned from that mistake also. Bibliography Apollo 11. Microsoft Encarta Encyclopedia 2000. 4 Fast-Growing Temp Jobs to Focus on Now

4 Fast-Growing Temp Jobs to Focus on Now If you’re like most people, salary may be the first thing that comes to mind when evaluating what makes a â€Å"good job.† However, according to recent research, more and more workers - both young and old alike - are now prioritizing a different factor when assessing a job’s potential: job security. In fact, 56 percent of younger workers and 59 percent of older workers preferred security to salary when asked to choose between two jobs. For most people, the concept of a temp job and the concept of job security aren’t necessarily congruent; however, a new breed of temp positions offer unprecedented job security. Formerly the domain of the unemployed and job searchers passing the time until a permanent job can be found, temp jobs are now a valuable tool for companies looking to keep pace with the latest trends and technologies in a dynamic market - and for employees looking to capitalize on new demand. Based on research from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statis tics, Forbes rounded up the list of 2015’s fastest growing temp jobs. Let’s take a look at four of the top picks.1. Home Health Care AideIn addition to helping seniors in need of assistance, home health care aides also help people with disabilities, chronic illnesses, and cognitive impairment. With millions of Baby Boomers hitting retirement every day and most suffering from multiple chronic conditions, it’s no surprise that there is a growing demand for healthcare professionals.Although they work in a variety of settings, ranging from private homes to large-scale communities, home health care aides are typically employed by certified home health and hospice agencies - both of which will be looking for qualified labor to fill vacancies. Between 2014 and 2019, the number of home health care aide temp jobs is predicted to rise by 15 percent.  2. Childcare WorkerAs the bulk of the Millennial generation - the first generation in American history to top the Boome rs in sheer numbers - enters its childbearing years, their offspring will need care. And while many have delayed having kids because of the challenging conditions under which they came of age (resulting in an oft-publicized â€Å"baby bust†), the time is drawing nigh when the delayers will take the leap. It’s no surprise, then, that temp positions for childcare workers are expected to jump by 14 percent over the next five years.3. Registered NurseThe buzz surrounding the imminent nursing shortage is well-founded: with up to three million Baby Boomers entering Medicare each year and the Affordable Care Act having already added eight million to the growing list of the insured, the demands on the healthcare industry will be significant, with registered nurses topping the list.Nurse staffing agencies will race to fill the void through a variety of temp nursing opportunities, including contract, travel and per diem positions. All in all, an average increase of 6,200 jobs - or 14 percent growth - is predicted over the next five years alone.Meanwhile, an alternate healthcare profession expects to experience almost equally meteoric growth: Pharmacy technicians.4. Computer Systems AnalystAs companies struggle to keep up with changing technologies while balancing their business initiatives, computer systems analysts are expected to play a vital role. These hybrid professionals offer a unique blend of information technology knowledge and business acumen, qualifying them not just to offer computer expertise, but to apply it within the context of a company’s overall objectives in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness. In addition to being in demand with a whopping 19 percent increase in anticipated jobs by 2019, computer system analysts are also well-compensated, thanks to a median salary of more than $81,000 in 2013. Temp workers with skills and experience in this field are well-positioned for ongoing success.Software developers and computer user support specialists are also expected to see growth in tech temp jobs over the next half-decade.

Identity Theft in the Organization Research Paper

Identity Theft in the Organization - Research Paper Example However, in other organizations, this is something that is known. This is especially in hospitals where the patients use their social security numbers and in financial institutions. This paper discusses the issue of identity theft, how major institutions govern the information of clients and additionally, recommendations on how to stop identity theft. To start with, the organization can create the post of an ethics officer. The web surfing history of the employee is something that should be monitored closely if organizations want to be sure of the operations that an employee is carrying out. In addition, this is something that if an organization fails to adhere to, may lead to the loss of not only the data of the clients but the overall bad image of the organization. There are numerous ways and means of monitoring an employee’s web surfing and email history (Henk, Tilborg, & Jajodia, 2011, p. 1248). An ethics officer is someone who is employed by an organization to ensure that employees do not go against the rules and ethics of the workstation. This is a post that is however given to a very trusted employee since he or she is trusted to guide the other employees so as not to steal data from the organization. The workstation is something that is clearly important if the organization is dealing with matters that may lead to i dentity theft and therefore, there should be rules and regulations that govern the way the employees perform and conduct themselves. On the other hand, sometimes the employees fail to adhere to these rules and it is at this point that the ethics officer comes in. One of the major rules in an organization is that the employee should not in any way jeopardize the information of the client maliciously and use it for his or her own benefits. In other words, an employee should not be involved in identity theft. Monitoring the cookies information is also important Henk, Tilburg, & Jajodia, 2011, p. 1249).

Sumerize the article, agree or disagree with the author, and react to Essay

Sumerize the article, agree or disagree with the author, and react to the video - Essay Example Even though different erotica in different countries use food and kitchen to relay their messages, some of them fall out of agreement with the feminist perspective. Ironically, women develop most of these, yet some of them seem to be not aligned with the feminism expectations. This is primarily because of the way such literature bluntly portray women as sex objects. For instance, some erotica written for both men and women will portray women as an edible dessert after dinner. Their bodies shown covered with champagne or cream. Most feminists therefore find it hard to find the validity in the assumption that women equal food, as this in itself is belittling to the womenfolk. Feminists can also not make anything out of literature that portrays women negatively. Apart from being portrayed as objects in erotica literature, some literature has portrayed women as voracious eaters. This negative presentation of women is not acceptable in the feminist sphere. The author compares and contrast s a variety of Hispanic erotic literature, which bears heavy culinary eroticism, in order to bring out the different portrayal and representation of women in the literature. ... In this literature, Esquivel portrays cooking as a process through which women discover, empower, and redefine themselves. Maite, in this article also addresses the difference between â€Å"table narratives† and â€Å"kitchen tales†. The author argues that in table narratives, there is a more positive representation of women as compared to the kitchen tales. The author once more employs the example of a table narrative namely, Aphrodite. A Memoir of the Senses, to justify this claim. Here, women sitting at tables are portrayed as powerful and influential. Unlike most kitchen tales, in table narratives, women are not presented as food for satisfaction of men’s sexual hunger, neither are they shown as nurturing machines that live in the kitchen, with their lives revolving around cooking. This is because today, the kitchen is thought of as a marginalized area, which contributes to the insubordination of women, who become less powerful than men in society, by restric ting them from the public sphere. In this article, the author achieves the theme quite clearly by comparing and contrasting as much literature on this issue as possible. What comes out clear is the relationship between women, kitchen, food, and cooking.
